As you get ready to file taxes, here’s helpful background and tips about bank tax documents and more.
Use direct deposit for quickly, securely getting your refund
The fastest, most secure way to get your tax refund is by setting up direct deposit. It’s more secure than a paper check, which could get stolen. It’s faster since you don’t have to wait for the check to arrive in the mail, or spend time cashing or depositing the check. When you file your taxes, use form 8888. You’ll need your account number and routing number.
Find your routing & account number
Find your routing and account number in digital banking by going to Accounts & Statements, selecting the account name and choosing View Account Details.
If you get your tax refund by paper check, you can deposit it at a TCF branch or branch ATM. The IRS doesn’t allow tax refunds to be deposited using mobile deposit. Find our conveniently located branches and branch ATMs here.
