This feature is not an overdraft prevention tool. Locking your card won’t affect pending transactions, electronic payments you’ve set up with a biller, automatic transfers, checks you’ve written and other transactions from your account that don’t use your debit card. If any of these payments exceed your available balance, you may still face a returned item NSF or overdraft fee, depending on your overdraft election.
