Forgot your Sign-in ID?

If you have already enrolled in Online Banking and did not change the default Sign-in ID at enrollment, your Sign-in ID is your Social Security number or federal tax ID number (for business users), including the dashes.

Phone us if you have already enrolled in Online Banking and you changed the default Sign-in ID at enrollment.

To change your Sign-in ID, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to Online Banking.
  2. Click Preferences
  3. Click Change Sign-in ID

Forgot your password?

You may securely choose a new password online by clicking the Forgot My Password link on the Online Banking sign-in page. In order to select a new password online, you will need your account number, Social Security number or federal tax ID and the PIN you created for your card.

If you are an existing TCF customer who has not enrolled in Online Banking, you must enroll before you can access your accounts. Enroll in Online Banking.

Your password for enrollment verification is the same as the PIN you use for ATM transactions and TCF Phone Banking access.

How do I change my Sign-in ID or password?

To change your Sign-in ID or password, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to Online Banking.
  2. Click Preferences
  3. Click Change Sign-in ID or Change Password

You may also securely choose a new password online by clicking the Forgot My Password link on the Online Banking sign-in page. In order to select a new password online, you will need your account number, Social Security number or federal tax ID and the PIN you created for your card.

Why am I signed off sometimes, or my session expires and I have to sign in again?

To prevent unauthorized use of your accounts and prevent others from viewing your information, TCF automatically signs off your Online Banking session after a period of inactivity.

Sometimes when I try to sign in, the ID and password boxes reset to blank fields, but I do not receive any error messages. What is the problem?

It is possible that your browser is set to refuse cookies. To enable cookies, follow these steps: (for Internet Explorer 5.0+)

Select Tools.
Select Internet Options.
Click the Security tab.
Scroll down to the Cookies heading.
Under Cookies, either Enable or Prompt should be selected for "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" and/or "Allow per session cookies (not stored)."
Click OK.
Click Refresh.

Free for all consumer checking accounts

TCF Online Banking for Business
FREE for any TCF business checking or savings account.

TCF Preferred Online Business Banking
You are automatically enrolled for FREE if you have 1 of these accounts.

The monthly online access fee is $2.95 for all other account types.

TCF Premier Online Business Banking
FREE for TCF Premier Business Checking accounts. This is the only type of account eligible for this Online Banking service.

TCF Online Business Banking Plus for commercial accounts
The monthly online access fee is $4.95.

What are the requirements for enrolling in TCF Online Banking?

You need the following to enroll in Online Banking:

An existing account at TCF Bank with a PIN. If you are not an existing customer, find a TCF location near you to open an account.

Your account must have your Social Security number, federal tax ID number or individual taxpayer identification number associated with it.

Internet access, including a personal email address.

An Internet browser that supports secure communications. Online Banking is viewed best with Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 5.5 and above, or Netscape version 6.0 and above. Other browsers may work but the display and printing of pages may not be ideal.

What if I am not eligible for a Social Security number (SSN)?

If you are not eligible for a SSN, you can file with the IRS for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). The forms for obtaining an ITIN are available online at www.irs.gov.

How long after I apply can I start using TCF Online Banking?

You can begin using Online Banking as soon as your online enrollment request has been received and validated, which takes about two minutes to complete.

Banking with TCF is now more convenient than ever. With TCF Online Banking you can:

  • Check your account balances.
  • See your most recent transactions.

  • View images of cleared checks and deposit slips.
  • Enroll in Mobile Banking.
  • Reorder checks.

How long is my account activity available?

The service will accumulate and store up to 180 days of activity. If you sign up for online statements, they are available up to 18 months.

Can I transfer funds between my accounts?

Yes, you can transfer funds from any qualifying TCF account(s) you are an owner on to any other qualifying account(s) at TCF (even if you are not an owner). For example, you can transfer funds from your TCF account to your child's account at TCF.

How do I sign up for TCF Online Bill Payment?

To pay your bills online, you must first enroll in TCF Online Banking. To add Online Bill Payment to your existing TCF Online Banking service:

  • Sign in to Online Banking.
  • Click Bill Payment tab.
  • Click Enroll.

How do I sign up for TCF Online Statements?

To view your monthly statements online, you must first enroll in TCF Online Banking. To add Online Statements to your existing TCF Online Banking service:

  • Sign in to Online Banking.
  • Click on the Statements link.
  • View the sample statement and accept the agreement.
  • Choose which accounts you want to receive Online Statements by clicking in the Enroll column.

Can I view my cleared checks and deposit slips online?

Yes, you can now view the front and back of all checks cleared on your account, and deposit slips, for free. To view your check images, follow these easy steps:

  • Sign in to Online Banking.
  • Click on the account name you want to view. The activity screen displays.
  • Click the View Image link next to the transaction you would like to view.

Accessing Your Accounts

Do I need extra software or hardware to use TCF Online Banking?

No extra software is necessary. You can access your TCF accounts from any PC that has Internet access.

Does the service work with my existing Internet Service Provider (ISP)?

Yes, TCF Online Banking will work with any ISP, including AOL, MSN, Qwest, AT&T, and others.

What type of accounts can I access with TCF Online Banking?

Once you have enrolled, you can access any deposit account and mortgage loan account you own.

Can I access accounts from both home and work?

Yes, you can access your accounts from any PC with Internet access and an Internet browser that supports secure communications. You should confirm that you are not violating any workplace policies if you access your account from work and that the system is private (not shared).
